The house and boathouse lie within Snowdonia National Park. Guests often use this as a base to explore and will often tell us that they have hiked up Snowdon, Cadair Idris and other mountain ranges such as the Rhinogs. There’s an abundance of activities to choose from but if you’re an outdoors type you will be in paradise. Walks from the house abundant, connection by train within 1 mile to Aberdovey, Machynlleth, Pwllheli, Portmaddog for Port Merrion, Harlech, Shell Island and further afield.

When our children were growing up simple days on the beach in all weather, making camps, panning for gold in the valley’s, crabbing and the many steam trains kept everyone happy.

Local Activities

The house and boathouse have direct access to the Mawddach cycle trail and it is an excellent walking route along the estuary between Dolgellau and Barmouth. Perfect for long days of cycling with no hills!! Unless you want a more challenging route up the back of Cadair Idris where there are some very quiet roads to test your uphill stamina.
