The house and boathouse lie within Snowdonia National Park. Guests often use this as a base to explore and will often tell us that they have hiked up Snowdon, Cadair Idris and other mountain ranges such as the Rhinogs. There’s an abundance of activities to choose from but if you’re an outdoors type you will be in paradise. Walks from the house abundant, connection by train within 1 mile to Aberdovey, Machynlleth, Pwllheli, Portmaddog for Port Merrion, Harlech, Shell Island and further afield.

When our children were growing up simple days on the beach in all weather, making camps, panning for gold in the valley’s, crabbing and the many steam trains kept everyone happy.

Beach, pool and gardens

Guests in the house have sole use of the pool and mature gardens around the house. Guests in the Boathouse have their own lawn adjacent to the boathouse and a walled dining area at the front of the boathouse.

Bryn Celyn boasts it’s own sign posted BBQ beach which is shared between the guests of the house and boathouse. There’s a stone shaped like a bench to watch the setting sun over Barmouth. The pool is unheated but enjoyed by guests regardless. Swimming at low tide in the sea is unbeatable (you must always consult the tide table and take extreme care as the currents can be strong). Children should be supervised at all times at this property - this cannot be emphasised enough.
