Reviews from a few of our lovely Guests

We were incredibly lucky to book Bryn Celyn House for just the two of us in August. It’s hard to describe the location and wonderful, ever-changing views but they certainly exceeded our expectations. Truly magnificent whatever the weather and it would be easy to spend all day just looking out of the wall to wall windows from the very comfortable lounge. We were doing just that when we saw a pair of Osprey fly into view and dive for fish in front of the lounge windows - a magical moment!

We enjoyed the lovely walk straight from the door to Barmouth and back over the bridge and the Mawddach Estuary Trail is a must - so beautiful and lots of picnic benches along the route (the best spots just after Graig Wen farm). We walked from the house and across the bridleway to the bus stop on the main road and started our walk at Penmaenpool toll bridge - an easy six miles walk back to the house. The George III pub at Penmaenpool was very nice for supper but you need to book as it’s very popular. We also did the Precipice Walk just outside Dolgellau as we’d last walked it 36 years ago when our children were small - it’s a great 4-5 mile walk with fantastic views. We’ve come away having enjoyed four fantastic days but there’s so much to do in the area (or do nothing at all) we wish we could have stayed longer!

Our second stay here and every bit as enjoyable as the first. Wonderful walks up Cadair Idris and Snowdon, long runs along the Mawddach trail and up to Cregennan Lakes, and lots of time spent painting and soaking up the views. Regular visits from the neighbourhood otter too! The perfect week- Thank you!

Enjoyed our week here, feel totally chilled out at the end of it. Wonderful, ever changing views. We saw the otter once, on a rainy day, about 7pm swimming past the boathouse :-) Love the way the house is decorated, we walked from here across the bridge and back one evening enjoying the beautiful sunset.

Location is just excellent, quiet, close to nature, perfect place to unwind and enjoy the sea air, certainly won’t be the last time we stay. One small bass on ragwort, hundreds of prawns at high tide (net just off slipway), although best spot for prawns was further down near the island and the mussel beds. Two otters had their dinner last night down by the BBQ beach - crabs judging by the crunching noises. Thank you very much!

Wow!! What a stunning view - a prefect location - the weather was good too! Visited Port Merrion - was well worth the visiting. Swallow Falls and The Great Orme were also worth visiting. We walked to Barmouth and back, and also visited Barmouth by train from More Mawddach station (20 minute walk to station). A great week - most evenings spent on the terrace with a bottle of wine. Many thanks.

This was the best place we have ever been too! Honestly, I don’t want to rave about this too much in case everyone else discovers it, but Bryn Celyn feels like a little slice of heaven. Jayne was incredibly quick and responsive in all communication and check in was very smooth. She kindly checked in on us when the awful weather descended. The boathouse is beautiful, warm and comfortable. We’ll most certainly be back!

The boathouse is unlike anywhere else. An experience not just a holiday house. We fell in love with it and the seclusion and privacy. Only 10min bike ride to Barmouth over the beautiful bridge. We had long breakfasts and watched the tide and sand banks shift and change. We swam twice a day. We watched the sun go down with incredible sunsets and molten water. We read and listened to beautiful music and painted. The house is pretty well equipped for 2. Plenty hot water and the wifi works intermittently. Cosy white robes and slippers and comfortable bed. We are most definitely going back !

This place is something else. A hidden gem. It offers seclusion, wonderful views. Fantastic location for exploring both mid and north wales. Whether you want to chill out or get out and about the location is perfect and I would highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic time at the boathouse. It was a real treat being so close to the water and all the wildlife. It is very close to the fantastic cycle path and really easy to get into Barmouth over the bridge. We can’t recommend this property enough and will definitely be going back soon. We loved it , Thank You Jayne

The house is in a very calm area and is a very good place to slow down; the view over the river is fantastic; our kids enjoyed the (unheated) pool. Shops and restaurants are in driving distance (15-20 min). Barmouth is a 30-40 min. walk over a pedestrian bridge. The equipment is ok, but not fancy; the first coffee in the morning on a bench a few meters above the water tastes nevertheless perfect!
